Superintendent Search

The Elizabeth School District is conducting a search for a Superintendent that displays high integrity, dynamic leadership, and community engagement that is focused on providing a high-quality educational foundation that empowers students to reach their individual potential.


Elizabeth School District is in Elbert County, which has an estimated population of 26,000 residents and is roughly 1,850 square miles and includes communities that range from small rural to larger rural communities. The Town of Elizabeth is the largest community in the County. The Elizabeth School District has four (4) schools in their district, serving more than 1,950 students in preschool through twelfth grade and over 320 and part-time and full-time employees. The district office is located approximately 40 miles south of Denver.


The ideal individual will possess the following:


  • A seasoned educational leader, working within traditional conservative rural communities. Ideally, working with districts equal to the size of Elizabeth School District.

  • A leader that is open, approachable, thoughtful and has unquestioned integrity.

  • A leader that is fully transparent with students, parents/guardians staff and community members. Someone who is transparent about curriculum and encourages parents involvement, in the curriculum at the district level.

  • A leader that is an effective communicator who excels in building relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members through authentic engagement.

  • A leader whose leadership style is understanding of fairness, leads with integrity, and respect, within the schools and community.

  • A leader with transparent personal values and an unwavering moral compass.

  • A leader that is community committed. One that inspires trust, confidence, and mutual respect.

  • A leader that understands that not every student chooses the same post high school path, and is a proponent of vocational training expansion, in Elbert County.


The required qualifications for the ideal individual are as following:


  • Understanding of rural communities is required.

  • Experienced in navigating community growth and how that effects district growth.

  • Master’s degree is required (in an education related field, preferred).

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all different levels.

  • Exceptional leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.

  • Elbert County community committed.

  • Transparent about values and vision for the district is required.

  • Central Office Administrator experience preferred.


Anticipated compensation range: $165,000-$185,000 base salary + benefits
